Amber Cove Cruises

Amber Cove is located near to the city of Puerto Plato in the Dominican Republic and created specifically to cater for the cruise industry – bringing big ships back to the area for the first time in more than 25 years.

There are a number of swimming pools, which include waterslides for adrenaline seekers, whilst those who want to relax could hire a private cabana and simply make the most of some time in the sunshine.

The coast around Amber Cove is home to some of the best diving in the Dominican Republic, with those who go snorkeling able to head into the clear blue waters to explore the varied marine life that is found below the surface.

Should you get lucky, there might even be the chance to spot dolphins playing in the water.

You can also see dolphins if you take a visit to Ocean World, a popular marine adventure park that is home to various species including sea lions and sharks – both of which you can get up close to.

Nearby Puerto Plata is a city that is worth exploring if time allows, with the opportunity to explore colonial history with a visit to the 16th century Fortaleza San Felipe that was built to help defend the city from attack by pirates.

The city if also home to an impressive museum focused around Amber, an old iron lighthouse and various houses dating back to the time of the Victorians.
